PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior runner Caitlin Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning the individual title at last week's Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship.
Busch became the sixth runner in MVC history to claim consecutive individual MVC Cross Country titles and helped the Bradley women's cross country squad repeat as team champs Saturday in Evansville, Ind. She clocked the top time at the MVC Championship since 2005 as she garnered MVC Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight season. Busch topped her 5K school record by over six seconds, crossing the line at 16:54.20 to win top individual honors at last week's MVC Championship. A health science major, Busch owns a 3.74 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Busch and the Bradley women's cross country teams return to action Friday, Nov. 13 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Lawrence, Kan.
