PEORIA, Ill. -- Freshman Tamya Sims (Milwaukee, Wis./Oak Creek) scored a season-high 16 points and sophomore Whitney Tinjum (Stacy, Minn./Chisago Lakes/Washington State) collected her team-best third double-double of the year with 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to help Bradley to a 66-57 victory over visiting Loyola Friday at Renaissance Coliseum as the Braves completed a regular-season sweep of the Ramblers.

Bradley, which entered the game one ahead of Loyola in the standings, got off to a slow start, making just 1-of-6 shots from the field and committing six turnovers in the opening six minutes of the contest.  Loyola took advantage of the early struggles for the Braves and jumped out to an early 12-3 lead.

Tinjum came off the bench to score five points in the next four minutes and capped a 9-0 Bradley run which pulled the Braves within a point at 15-14 with a three-pointer nearing the midway point of the first half.  After the poor start shooting, Bradley made 10-of-21 shots from the field to close the period and used a 10-0 run later in the half to go in front 29-22.

Sims had four points during the late Bradley run and Tinjum once again ended the spurt with a three-pointer as the duo helped the Braves to a 31-29 halftime lead.

Loyola pulled even early in the second half, but the Braves answered with 13 consecutive points over a five-minute stretch to build a 46-33 lead with just under 14 minutes to play.  Tinjum broke a 33-33 tie with a layup and freshman Shareece Burrell (Des Moines, Iowa/East) had a fastbreak layup and a three-pointer with the shot clock winding down to help highlight the spurt.  After a 12-point first half, Sims added four points, a rebound, one assist and one steal during the run.

The Ramblers whittled Bradley's lead to four points 51-47 with just under eight minutes left when senior Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) ended a 9-2 Loyola run with a put-back basket.  Sophomore Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) came up with a steal and converted a three-point play before Burrell followed a Loyola free throw with a layup to once again give the Braves a double-digit lead (58-48) closing in on the five-minute mark.

Bradley held Loyola without a field goal for a near five-minute stretch and the Ramblers made just three baskets in the final eight minutes as the Braves went on to take the contest 66-57.

Sims had nine rebounds to go with her team-high and season-best 16 points, pulling down eight of her boards in the second half.  Tinjum added 14 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench, while Young was also in double figures with 13 points.  Young, who moved within one point of tying Carol Baresch for 16th on the Bradley all-time scoring chart, broke Katie Yohn's Renaissance Coliseum career scoring record of 479 career points with a hoop in the closing seconds.

The Braves outrebounded Loyola 47-31 and held the Ramblers to 35.1 percent shooting.  Bradley's 66 points was the team's best scoring output since the 76-64 win against Missouri on Dec. 6.  Becca Smith led Loyola with 20 points and Taylor Johnson added 16 points of her own.  The Ramblers tied a Renaissance Coliseum record with nine blocked shots.

Bradley continues a three-game home stand next Friday with a 7 p.m. game against Southern Illinois at Renaissance Coliseum.
