STATESBORO, Ga. – Bradley took an early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and senior Alyson Spinas-Valainis (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) took a one-hit shutout into the sixth, but Dayton scored a pair of unearned runs to force extra innings and the Flyers went on to top the Braves 3-2 in eight innings Sunday afternoon at the Eagle Classic.

Bradley loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning with a single, hit batter and walk for freshman Erika Hansen (Fillmore, Calif./Moorpark) who drove in her team-best 11th run of the year with a bases loaded walk.  Later in the inning, junior Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) gave the Braves a 2-0 lead with a two-out, bases loaded single.

Spinas-Valainis pitched around a pair of walks in the second a two-out single in the third as she took a shutout bid into the sixth inning, limiting Dayton to just one hit in the first five innings.

Junior Kathryn Spenn (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville) led off the Bradley half of the third with a double, but the Braves came up empty and Dayton was able to tie it up with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the sixth.  Tiffany Ricks had a bunt single and the Flyers had runners at first and second after a Bradley error.  Kayla Haberstich ripped a two-out, two-run double to left center to tie the game at 2-2.

Bradley left a runner on in the sixth and Dayton did the same in the top of the seventh as the Braves went to extra innings for the second time in three games.

Ricks led off the Dayton half of the eighth with a single and Dayton had runners at second and third after a hit batter and wild pitch.  Haberstich drove in her third run of the game with a groundout to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.

Bradley had a chance to tie up the game in the bottom of the eighth after Hansen led off the frame with a double.  Hansen was out at third, however, when senior Shannon King (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) reached on a fielder's choice and Dayton was able to turn a double play to end the contest.

Hansen went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and one RBI, while sophomore Kelly Kapp (Freeburg, Ill./Gilbault Catholic) was 1-for-4 to extend her hit streak to eight games to help highlight the game for the Braves.  Spinas-Valainis held Dayton to five hits and gave up just one earned run in the complete game loss as she fell to 1-4 on the year.

Gabrielle Snyder evened her record at 1-1 with the complete game victory in the circle for Dayton.

Bradley returns to action at the Tennessee Classic in Knoxville, Tenn., opening tournament play Friday with a 9 a.m. (CST) game against Murray State.
