GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Senior Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) is tied for 23rd at the Loyola Invitational after shooting a two-over par 74 Monday and the Bradley men's golf team is tied with conference rival Missouri State for 13th in the team standings after two rounds of play in the spring opener for the Braves.
Masrin, who has now carded 27 consecutive sub-80 rounds for the sixth longest streak in school history, followed up Sunday's one-over par 73 with a 74 Monday at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club. He is tied for 23rd in the field at 147, four shots out of the top 10. The second-round 74 was Masrin's 79th career sub-80 round and moved him into a tie for sixth in career rounds in the 70's or better.
Fellow senior Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) matched his first-round 75, with a three-over 75 Monday to close the day three shots back of Masrin in a tie for 45th at 150. Trolia's 75 was his 89th career sub-80 round.
Junior Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) is tied for 70th overall at 155 after a second-round 79 and junior Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland C.C.) will enter the final round tied for 90th (161) following an 83. Sophomore Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) rounded out the scoring for Bradley with an 84 and is tied for 98th (166).
After an opening-round 302 Sunday, the Braves shot 311 to slip into a tie with Missouri State for 13th in the team standings at 613. Utah Valley has a 13-shot lead on the field at 569 (-7) after a one-over par 289 Monday.
Gonzaga had the low round of the day at two-under 286 and is tied with Missouri for second overall at 582. DePaul is fourth in the team standings at 583 with Utah following in fifth (584). Loyola (MD) and UMKC are tied for sixth (590), while Seton Hall (8th – 591), UConn (9th – 593) and Air Force (10th – 599) round out the top 10, respectively.
Murray State sits in 11th, 10 shots ahead of Bradley at 603, while 12th-place St. John's is three ahead of the Braves at 610. Bradley and Missouri State are tied for 13th (613) and own a two-shot edge on 15th-place Navy. Southern Illinois is three shots back in 16th (616) and SIU Edwardsville completes the field in 17th (619).
The final round of the Loyola Invitational is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m. (CST) with a shotgun start.
