PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley women's basketball team will try to get back in the win column Sunday afternoon, hosting Evansville in a 2 p.m. contest at Renaissance Coliseum to wrap up a two-game home stand.
The Braves will host a free post-game clinic for all children (ages 6-14) in attendance following Sunday's outing against the Purple Aces. No registration is necessary for clinic participants.
Bradley holds a 25-18 advantage in the all-time series with Evansville, which dates back to the Purple Aces joining the Missouri Valley Conference for the 1994-95 season. The Braves have won four of the last six in the series, but UE has won the last two matchups including the game earlier this season in Evansville, Ind. Bradley is 14-6 at home in the series and the Braves have won five of the six home games vs. UE.
A subscription video stream will be available at BradleyBraves.com (Bradley All-Access) in addition to links to links for live stats and an audio stream.
Bradley has made a habit of posting a better record in the second half of Missouri Valley Conference than it did in the first half. The Braves have turned in a better mark the second time through the league slate in four consecutive seasons and eight of the last nine years overall.
In fact, Bradley has matched or exceeded its first-half MVC win total in each of the last 12 years starting with the 2002-03 season. During that 12-year stretch, the Braves have posted a 38-70 record in the first half of MVC play compared to a 54-54 mark in the second half of the Valley schedule.
Senior Michelle Young (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) moved into a tie with Andrea McAllister for 17th in career scoring at 980 career points with her 14-point effort against Indiana State Friday. Needing 20 points to become the 17th Brave to reach 1,000 career points, Young is 27 points from breaking Katie Yohn's Renaissance Coliseum career scoring record.
Young also moved into a tie with Jenn Jolly for 10th in career made free throws at Bradley. The duo both own 253 career made free throws and Young enters Sunday's contest seven free throws behind former teammate Catie O'Leary for ninth in school history.
Sophomore Whitney Tinjum (Stacy, Minn./Chisago Lakes/Washington State) has scored in double figures in four consecutive games, scoring 14.3 points per game during that stretch. Tinjum is averaging 13.0 points per game this season and a team-best 11.6 points per game in MVC play.
After Sunday's game against Evansville, Bradley opens a two-game road swing Friday with a 7 p.m. game at Missouri State.
