TEMPE, Ariz. – Bradley managed just two hits off Stanford pitching and the Cardinal used a five-run third inning to power past the Braves 10-0 in five innings to wrap up the second day of the Kajikawa Classic Saturday afternoon.

Stanford allowed just three base runners in the game and tallied nine hits in the victory as the Cardinal improved to 2-2 on the young season.

Both teams were retired in order in the first inning, before Stanford broke through for three runs in the bottom of the second.  After the Cardinal opened the inning with three consecutive singles to load the bases, Lauren Bertoy was hit by a pitch with one out to drive in the first run of the game.  A bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly gave Stanford a 3-0 lead.

Senior Lexi Cremeens (Dix, Ill./Mount Vernon) led off the top of the third with a single for Bradley (1-3 overall) and the Braves had runners at first and second after a one-out single by senior Brittany Burgess (Utica, Ill./St. Bede).  Bradley came up empty, however, and left a pair of runners in scoring position.

A hit batter to open the Stanford half of the third proved costly when Jessica Plaza followed with a two-run homer.  Two more Cardinal hits and two Bradley errors in the frame led to three more runs as Stanford extended the lead to 8-0.  Three of Stanford's five runs in the third were unearned.

The Cardinal added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run, two-out bases loaded double off the bat of Bertoy.

Cremeens reached on an error with one out in the top of the fifth for Bradley, but the Braves were unable to push her across as Stanford hurler Tylyn Wells retired the next two batters she faced to close out the 10-0 win for the Cardinal.

Senior Alyson Spinas-Valainis (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) made her first career start in the circle for Bradley and suffered the loss to drop to 0-1 on the season.  Madi Schreyer pitched three shutout innings for Stanford to earn her first win of the year (1-0).

Bradley closes out play at the Kajikawa Classic Sunday with a 10 a.m. game against North Carolina.
