BATON ROUGE, La. - Ariel Dechter, Aimee Manfredo and Elizabeth Przystawski all rallied for 3-set victories at Nos. 2, 3 and 6 singles, respectively, helping Bradley (9-6) rally for a 4-3 win at Southern (5-8) in the second match of its spring break trip through Louisiana Tuesday afternoon at the SU University Courts.
The win snapped Bradley's season-long losing streak at 2 matches and assures the Braves will complete their regular-season non-conference season Wednesday at New Orleans (8-6) with a winning record. The Bradley women's tennis program has not finished the year with a winning non-conference record since 2008-09, when the Braves completed their non-conference slate with an 8-5 record.
Southern started fast by winning the doubles point, then positioned itself for the win taking two of the first three singles matches with straight-set wins at Nos. 1 and 5 singles. Ashley Thai put the Braves on the board with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, but Bradley still faced a 3-1 deficit as Dechter, Manfredo and Przystawski all went to third sets.
Przystawski made it 3-2 with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Dechter knotted the match at 3-all by pulling out a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles and Manfredo finished off her win moments later with a 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 3 singles to complete the rally.
