NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Sophomore Steffen Uhrich (Wauwatosa, Wis./East) finished third in the men's 2,000 meter steeplechase and senior Kyela Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) took fifth in the women's 800 meters to highlight the final day of competition at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold for the Bradley men's and women's track & field teams Saturday afternoon.
Uhrich was in contention in the men's 2,000 meter steeplechase, finishing three seconds behind event champ Marc Dubrick in third at 6:05.23. The time posted by Uhrich ranks second all-time at Bradley and was the best performance by a Brave since Chase Coffey's school record time of 5:57.83 in 2013.
Specht highlighted a light day for the women's team, pacing five Braves in the 800 meters. She crossed the line in fifth in her heat and fifth overall at 2:12.49. Sophomore Casey Kramer (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) challenged her career-best time in the 800 meters, taking 23rd overall at 2:17.56 to miss a career-best time by two-tenths of a second.
In the men's 800 meters, junior Evan Tuisl (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) was the top finisher among four Bradley entries in the field. Tuisl nearly clocked a career-best time, crossing the line at 1:57.45 to take 12th overall. Senior Aaron Peck (Moline, Ill./Moline) was close behind in 14th at 1:58.72.
The Bradley men's and women's track & field teams are back in action Friday and Saturday at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif., in addition to the EIU Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill., next Saturday.
