NORMAL, Ill. -- Senior Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) broke the Bradley record for sub-80 rounds with a 74 for his 94th career round in the 70's or better and junior Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland) tied for top individual honors for the Bradley men's golf team Saturday at the I-74 Individual Challenge.
Burns tied Illinois State's Jordan Fahel for top individual honors, with both carding 71's at the par-71 Weibring Golf Club Saturday. The 71 was the lowest of the spring for Burns.
Senior Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) matched his lowest round of the spring with a two-over 73 and tied for fourth overall. Masrin moved into a tie for fourth in school history with his 83rd career sub-80 round to match Warren Molitor's (1972-76) career total.
Trolia was one shot behind Masrin in a tie for eighth at three-over 74 Saturday in the individual dual between I-74 rivals Bradley and Illinois State. The 74 was Trolia's 94th career sub-80 round, breaking Dave Wettlaufer's school record of 93 career rounds in the 70's or lower set between 1981-85.
Junior Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) also helped highlight the day for the Braves with a four-over 75 for his lowest round since wrapping up the fall schedule with a season-best 73. Cox tied for 11th overall.
The Bradley men's golf team will host the Bradley Invitational Friday and Saturday at WeaverRidge Golf Club.
