WICHITA, Kan. - Ariel Dechter continued her record-breaking season by earning the first point won against #32 Wichita State by a Missouri Valley Conference team this season, but the Shockers (19-3, 5-0 MVC) cruised to a 6-1 win against Bradley (10-10, 1-3 MVC) for their 52nd consecutive MVC dual match win Sunday morning at Wichita Country Club.
Dechter had played in the No. 2 singles position all season until swapping positions with freshman Alexa Brandt this weekend. After earning a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles in Saturday's 4-3 win at Missouri State, Dechter added a second straight win from the top spot Sunday, pulling out a 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 victory against Julia Schiller. Dechter's win was Bradley's first point against the Shockers in 14 regular-season and MVC Tournament matches since a 5-2 loss April 17, 2005 at Wichita State.
With her two weekend wins, Dechter has pushed her school-record season singles victory total to 28, including a 16-4 record during the spring dual-match season that also includes a 3-1 ledger in conference play.
The Braves will play their 2014-15 home finale Wednesday by hosting rival Illinos State in a 3 p.m. match at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
