CARBONDALE, Ill. - Ashley Thai overcame Wednesday's sprained ankle to earn a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, but that was the only point Bradley (11-11, 2-4 MVC) could muster in a 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference women's tennis dual match loss Saturday at Southern Illinois.
The Salukis (14-9, 3-3) improved to 11-1 at home this season by dominating doubles play before taking five of the six singles matches. While Thai earned a straight-sets victory at No. 4 singles, freshman Alexa Brandt was the only other Brave to win a set, before dropping a 3-set decision to Meagan Monaghan at No. 2 singles.
Thai improved to 20-17 overall in singles action this season to become the fourth member of this year's squad to eclipse the program's previous single-season wins record.
Bradley will close out the regular-season Sunday with a noon dual match at Evansville. The Braves will return to Evansville for next weekend's Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Team Championship.
