BURLINGTON, Iowa -- Junior Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba /Sturgeon Heights) was one of only 11 players in the field to shoot a sub-80 round and is tied for eighth in the standings, while the Bradley women's golf team climbed two spots into sixth on a windy and wet second day at the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship.
A light mist and winds up to 30 miles per hour made play difficult for the teams on day two of the MVC Championship at the par-72 Spirit Hollow Golf Course Monday. Bradley turned in the fourth lowest team score of the day at 325 to move up two spots into the team standings at 640 and the Braves will enter Tuesday's final round one shot behind Illinois State (639) for fifth.
Despite the playing conditions, Roadley was one of eighth individuals to shoot a lower second round score as she carded a six-over 78 to finish the day tied for eighth at 157. She is three shots out of the top four and 11 back of individual leader Alejandra Arellano of Wichita State who is atop the leaderboard at two-over 146 after a second-round 74.
Freshman Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) is two shots behind Roadley as she will try to earn her third straight top-10 finish. Scaccia shot an 83 Monday and is tied for 15th at 159.
Junior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) carded a second-round 82 to finish the day three shots behind Scaccia in a tie for 28th at 162, while fellow junior Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) matched Lemek's second-round 82. Walsh joined Roadley as one of the eight individuals to improve in the second round and will enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 38th at 166.
Defending champion Wichita State turned in the lowest team score for the second straight day with a 311 and has an 11-shot lead on the field at 612. The Shockers have four of the top eight individuals in the field. Pre-championship favorite Missouri State is second in the team standings at 623, while Loyola finished the day in third (633). Southern Illinois was second after Sunday's opening round, but slipped to fourth at 634 and the Salukis have a five-shot edge on fifth-place Illinois State (639).
Bradley is just one back of the Redbirds in sixth (640) and the Braves have a two-shot advantage on Indiana State and Evansville, which both closed the day in a tie for seventh at 642. Drake is ninth at 655 and Northern Iowa rounds out the field in 10th at 669 heading into the third and final round.
The Braves will be paired with in-state rivals Illinois State and Southern Illinois in Tuesday's final round, which is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m. A link to live scoring is available at - http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=stats&tid=7793
