ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Junior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) has been selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the sixth time this season and school-record 16th time in her career according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday.
Lemek won medalist honors at the Bradley Invitational, claiming top individual honors for the second straight tournament and third time this season. The individual win pushed her school-record medalist total to nine and gives her three in each of her first three seasons on The Hilltop.
She opened up play at the par-72 WeaverRidge Golf Club with rounds of 73 and 75 Friday, before finishing up the tournament with a final round 78 Saturday to finish at 226 and edge Indiana State's Marissa Uradomo for the top spot in the field by two strokes. Lemek, who stretched her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 30, broke the school record for career top-10 finishes with the 22nd of her career and placed in the top 10 of a tournament for the sixth time this season. She helped Bradley to a third-place team finish in a field which also included MVC rivals Evansville, Indiana State and Loyola.
The MVC Golfer of the Week selection was Lemek's 16th career weekly honor from the conference office, which ranks second in league history. She has garnered MVC Golfer of the Week selections following 16 of her 30 regular-season outings. Lemek is one MVC Golfer of the Week honor from matching Illinois State's Samantha Richdale (2002-03 through 2005-06) for the most in league history at 17.
Lemek and the Bradley women's golf team return to action April 12 & 13 at the Indiana State Spring Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., where she will look to defend her individual title in the event from last spring.
