ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Junior runner Kristen Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week after sweeping the 5,000 and 10,000 meter titles at last week's MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

Busch defended her title in the 10,000 meters at the 2015 MVC Outdoor Championship Friday night and claimed the 5,000 meter title Sunday afternoon as she earned 20 of Bradley's school-record 61 points and helped the Braves to a sixth-place team finish.  The eighth two-time 10,000 meter champ in Valley history, Busch crossed the line at 34:52.70 to wrap up Friday's night action.  On Sunday, she returned to the track to win the 5,000 meter title over her twin sister Caitlin by one second at 17:10.66.  Busch is the first Bradley runner to win the 5,000 meter title at the MVC Outdoor Championship since Mary Ellen Hill in 1998 and the ninth individual in league history to sweep the 5,000 & 10,000 meter crowns at the same Valley Championship.  A health science major, Busch owns a 3.58 cumulative grade point average.

To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
