AUSTIN, Texas – Junior Emily Delvo (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart Griffin) finished 22nd in the national semifinals of the 5,000 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary to help highlight Saturday's action for the Bradley Track & Field Teams.
Delvo, who ran the 5,000 meters for just the second time in her career, posted a time of 17:18.42 to finish 22nd in the 5,000 meter field at the NCAA West Prelim.
Freshman Michael Ward (Cardiff, South Wales/Llanishen) was forced to withdraw from Saturday night's 5,000 meter men's national semifinal due to an injury. The school record holder in the event, Ward ran in the first round of the 1,500 meters Thursday at the NCAA West Prelim after missing the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship due to injury earlier this month.
In addition to competition at the NCAA West Preliminary, freshman Haran Dunderdale (Grantham, England/Carres) clocked a personal best 9:02.78 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase Saturday at the British Miler's Club Grand Prix in Manchester, England. Dunderdale's time is tops among Great Britain under-20 marks this year and is below the European Junior Championships qualifying standard.
