Bradley junior Ariel Dechter left her mark in Indiana this past weekend by advancing to the quarterfinals of an ITA Summer Circuit event at Purdue University.
Dechter, who set Bradley single-season records for singles (29) and combined single and doubles (47) wins during the 2014-15 school year, started the Purdue event with a 6-2, 6-4 upset of tournament No. 8 seed Adorabol Huckleby, a University of Iowa sophomore, in the round of 64. Decther followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Wright State junior Vanessa Madrigal in the round of 32, before continuing her run with a 6-3, 7-5 win against Josephine Cao to reach the quarterfinals, where she dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Minnesota sophomore Caroline Ryba.
Dechter also teamed with Carleton College sophomore Danielle Vasiliev in the Women's Open Doubles bracket, splitting a pair of matches. After dropping their opening-round match, the Dechter/Vasiliev combo downed the sister duo of Jordyn and Lauryn Scruggs in a tie-breaker, 8-7 (3), to reach the consolation bracket semis.
