ST. LOUIS - Bradley goalkeeper Logan Ketterer (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) is the first Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week of 2015, according to an announcement from the league office Monday afternoon.
Ketterer totalled 11 saves in Bradley's first two games of the season, helping the Braves to a weekend split. After making five saves in Friday's season-opener at Illinois-Chicago, Ketterer made six more saves in Sunday's 1-0 win against Houston Baptist, including a pair of diving plays midway through the second half to preserve his fifth career shutout. Ketterer's effort Sunday lowered his career goals against average to 1.00, matching Mike Haynes for the lowest career GAA in Bradley Soccer history.
A fourth-year junior, Ketterer stepped into the starting role between the pipes midway through last season and now has won the MVC Defensive Player of the Week honor three times. He previously claimed the award Sept. 22 and Nov. 3 last year. He becomes the fourth Bradley player to win the award at least three times, following goal-keeping predecesors Brian Billings (5 times from 2010-13), Chris Dunsheath (6, 2002-05) and Adam Gross (6, 1998-2000).
Ketterer and the Braves will return to action Friday by hosting DePaul in a 7 p.m. match at Shea Stadium, then will close out a 3-game home stand with a 1 p.m. game Sunday against Milwaukee. This weekend's games will be the first against both opponents since NCAA Tournament matchups at Shea Stadium, a 2007 first-round win against DePaul and a 2005 first-round loss to Milwaukee.
Bradley Soccer single-game tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children 14 and under and FREE for members of the Little Braves Club; Bradley University students, faculty and staff; and active members of the military and their immediate families, all by presenting valid identification at the Shea Stadium box office.
