LEMONT, Ill. -- Senior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) tied the Bradley mark for career sub-80 rounds and tied for third in the field at UIC Fall Shootout, while the Bradley women's golf team was second overall Saturday afternoon at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club.
Lemek fired a three-over par 75 on Cog Hill's par-72 #3 Course Saturday to tie Kelly Amundrud's (2008-12) school record of 87 career sub-80 rounds. The 75 helped Lemek tie for third in the field as she finished two shots back of individual medalist Hanna Netisingha of Southern Illinois, who carded a 73. The top-10 finish was the 25th of Lemek's career.
Bradley turned in its best round since the season-opening Redbird Invitational with a 307 Saturday afternoon to take second in the six-team field. Valley rival Southern Illinois was six shots better than the Braves at 301 to claim the team title. Bradley topped third-place finisher Chicago State (313) by six shots and was nine shots ahead of fourth-place Wisconsin-Green Bay (316). Detroit (5th - 327) and tournament-host Illinois-Chicago (6th - 332) completed the field.
Seniors Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) and Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) tied for eighth with rounds of 77 to join Lemek in the top 10. The top-10 finish was the second of the year for Walsh, while Roadley's 77 was a season-best.
Sophomore Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) fired a 78 to tie for 13th and sophomore Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) rounded out the team scoring for Bradley in a tie for 17th at 80.
Highlighting the five individuals in the field for the Braves were freshman Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and sophomore Abby Wellens (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy). Saban matched her season-best with a four-over 76 to tie for sixth, while Wellens had a 77 to tie Scaccia and Henderson for eighth overall.
Bradley returns to action Sept. 28 & 29 at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
