PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore men's golfer Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning medalist honors at last week's Zach Johnson Invitational.

Bushong repeated his medalist performance after winning the inaugural Zach Johnson Invitational last fall, claiming the top spot in the 2016 field by six strokes at the par-72 Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes, Iowa.  He helped the Bradley men's golf team to a 22-stroke team victory in the nine-team field.  After opening play with a one-under 71, Bushong matched a season-best with a two-under 70 in the second round.  He carded a three-over 75 in the final round to finish at even par 216.  A marketing major, Bushong owns a 3.46 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Bushong and the Bradley men's golf team wrapped up their Fall schedule earlier this week at the NIU Intercollegiate in Chicago, Ill.  The Braves will open their spring slate February 27 & 28 at the Colin Montgomerie Houston Baptist Invitational in Houston, Texas.
