Game Recap: Women's Basketball |
PEORIA, Ill. – Junior Danielle Brewer (Coatesville, Ind.) matched a career-high 17 points off the bench and the Bradley reserves combined for 54 points to help power the Braves to a convincing 103-59 victory over visiting Eureka Sunday night at Renaissance Coliseum.

Brewer was one of four Bradley players in double figures, joined by sophomore Vanessa Markert (Mt. Sterling, Brown County), who had a career-high 17 points and four blocks.  Senior Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) notched her second double-double of the year with 16 points and 14 boards, while junior Anneke Schlueter (Ulm, Germany/Max-Weber-Schule) added 10 points.  Seven Braves scored eight or more points and 12 of the 13 players which saw action for Bradley scored in the contest.

Bradley (2-3 overall) had to recover from a slow start with the Braves shooting 5-of-15 from the field in the first quarter and a 5-for-18 start to the game overall.  Eureka led by as many as eight points in the first quarter and held a 21-19 edge after 10 minutes of play.

Brewer had six of her points during a 13-5 first-quarter run and also helped highlight a 9-0 spurt early in the second with a basket and two assists as Bradley grabbed a 28-22 lead nearing the six-minute mark of the second.  The Braves were 11-for-17 from the field in the final nine minutes of the second quarter and went on to lead 46-38 at the half.

Eureka (3-3 overall) pulled within six (49-43) early in the third quarter, before the Braves put the game out of reach with 19 consecutive points.  Lerma scored six of her 16 points during the run and also had three rebounds and two steals during the near four-minute stretch as she helped Bradley extend the lead to 68-43 closing in on four minutes in the quarter.  The reserves combined for 11 of 19 points during the decisive run and scored 16 of 31 points in the period as the Braves pushed the lead to 31 (77-46) heading to the fourth.

Bradley, which was 19-for-28 (67.9 percent) from the field in the second half, extended the lead to as many 47 points in the fourth and went on to finish with a Renaissance Coliseum record 103 points in the 103-59 victory to break the previous facility record of 98 set on Nov. 8, 2013.

The Braves scored 100 points for the first time since a 112-116 double overtime loss at Milwaukee on Dec. 4, 2012 and topped the century mark in a 40-minute contest since a 101-86 victory at Xavier (Nov. 30, 1996).  Bradley's last home game in which the Braves reached the 100-point mark was Feb. 27, 1992 against Eastern Illinois (104-70) during first year Bradley head coach Andrea Gorski's senior year.

Six Bradley reserves scored at lead five points led by Brewer's career-best 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting.  The bench combined to make 16-of-29 shots from the field, including 5-for-9 from three-point range and also collected 12 assists and nine steals.

Bradley continues a season-long five-game home stand Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Horizon League preseason favorite Green Bay at Renaissance Coliseum.
