Shareece Burrell Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior guard Shareece Burrell (Des Moines, Iowa/East) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after scoring a career-high 16 points in Saturday's game at Western Michigan.

Burrell entered Saturday's contest at Western Michigan with 10 points on the season and had scored in double figures just once in her career, but was perfect 6-for-6 from the field to collect a career-best 16 points. She was 2-for-2 from three-point range and also added four rebounds, one steal and a career-best three assists against the Broncos. A sports communication major, Burrell owns a 3.26 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Burrell and the Bradley women's basketball team wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule Thursday with a 1 p.m. game at Illinois-Chicago.
