Box Score TEMPE, Ariz. – Seattle starter Andie Larkins struck out eight and tossed a complete game one-hit shutout as Bradley softball ended the first day of play at the Kajikawa Classic with a 9-0 loss to the Redhawks Friday night.
Sophomore Taylor Morales (Spokane, Wash./University) got the only Bradley hit of the contest with a one-out single in the third.
Seattle broke the game open in the bottom of the second with a six-run inning highlighted by two-run doubles by Megan Ottino and Kaylee Ree. A solo homer off the bat of Maddy Kristjanson in the third gave the Redhawks a 7-0 lead and a walk-off, two-run homer by Haley Beckstrom in the fifth closed out the 9-0 Seattle win. Five of Seattle's 11 hits went for extra bases.
Just four Bradley hitters reached base in the contest and the Braves left a two runners in scoring position in the setback.
Freshman Julie Kestas (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) suffered the loss in the circle for Bradley, giving up five earned runs in one and two-third innings of work.
Bradley continues play at the Kajikawa Classic Saturday morning with a 10 a.m. (CST) game against Boise State. The Braves will also face Utah State Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. (CST).
