ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- A week after her twin sister Caitlin earned Missouri Valley Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, senior Kristen Busch (Waterloo, Ill./Freeburg) was named Valley Track Athlete of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday.
Kristen posted the top 5,000 meter time in the MVC this season and broke her own school record in the event set at last year's MVC Indoor Championship by an impressive 24 seconds Friday at the Iowa State Classic. Busch crossed the line in seventh overall at 16:11.29 to edge out Caitlin by one second and break her previous school mark of 16:35.05.
Earlier this month Kristen posted the second-best 3,000 meter time in school history (9:31.68), behind Caitlin's school record and her time in the event is third in the MVC in 2016.
The Bradley track & field teams have their final competition before next week's MVC Championship in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Friday when the Braves run at the EIU Friday Night Special in Charleston, Ill.
