PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's tennis player Irinka Toidze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Jejili/West Virginia) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Bradley women's tennis team to victories over Northern Illinois and Valparaiso last weekend.

Toidze went a combined 3-1 Saturday, picking up a pair of victories at #4 singles and one doubles win.  She pulled out a three-set victory (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) at No. 4 singles for the final point in Bradley's first win against in-state foe Northern Illinois (4-3) to open Saturday's action.  Later that same day, she teamed with junior Ariel Dechter (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) for a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles in a sweep of Valparaiso and also earned a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.  A psychology major, Toidze owns a 3.54 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Toidze and the Bradley women's tennis team return to action Saturday, hitting the road for matches at IUPUI (7 a.m.) and Butler (1 p.m.).
