PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's golf team will play 13 rounds in five tournaments during a 32-day span to wrap up the 2015-16 schedule, opening the busy stretch Saturday at the I-74 Individual Challenge in Normal, Ill.
The Braves will face I-74 rival Illinois State and IUPUI in the one-day, one-round event Saturday which will start with 10:30 a.m. tee times at Illinois State's par-71 Weibring Golf Club.
Senior Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland) tied for top individual honors at last year's event, matching Illinois State's Jordan Fahel for medalist honors at 71. Burns has carded 72 or better in three of his six career rounds at Weibring Golf Club and owns a 74.67 career stroke average at the course.
Freshman Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) tied for second at the season-opening Weibring Intercollegiate back in September in the first outing of his collegiate career. Bushong, who is second in the MVC with a 71.90 stroke average, tied for second at last week's Bob Sitton Invitational. He has five top-10 finishes this season, including two this spring.
Senior Garrett Cox (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) fired a 75 at last year's I-74 Challenge and has the most experience at Weibring Golf Club among the Braves, having played a total of eight rounds at the Weibring Golf Club. Cox tied for 17th at the season-opening Weibring Intercollegiate and owns a 77.25 career average at Weibring, shooting 76 or better in five of his eight rounds.
After the I-74 Challenge, the Braves are back in action April 2 & 3 at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
