PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior men's golfer Lyle Burns (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour/Parkland C.C.) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after sharing medalist honors at the I-74 Individual Challenge Saturday in Normal, Ill.
Burns tied teammate Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) and IUPUI's Michael Johnson for top individual honors at Saturday's I-74 Challenge with each matching par at the par-71 Weibring Golf Club. The medalist honors were the first of the season for Burns and he earned his fourth top-10 finish of the year as he matched his low round of the spring with the 71. A business management and administration major, Burns owns a 3.82 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Burns and the Bradley men's golf team are back in action Saturday & Sunday at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
