CHICAGO, Ill. -- Sophomore Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) tied a career-best with a two-under 70 and is tied for first in the individual standings after two rounds of play at the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship, while Bradley slipped to third in the team standings following Monday's second round.
The Braves improved by one shot on the second day of play, carding a 298 Monday for the team's fourth lowest round in MVC Championship history. Bradley fell to third in the standings despite boasting the best 36-hole score at the Valley Championship in program history at 597. Defending champion Wichita State is 11 shots ahead of the Braves in first (586), while Indiana State turned in the low round of the day with a one-under 287 to move into second at 593.
Scaccia opened play with a one-over 73 Sunday and her two-under 70 Monday at the par-72 Harborside International Golf Center Port Course tied the lowest round of her career. In fact, she tied the third lowest round by a Brave at the Valley Championship and is in a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard with Taryn Torgerson of Wichita State and Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry at 143 entering Tuesday's final round.
Two-time MVC Golfer of the Year Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) turned in her school record 30th sub-80 round of the year with a second round 74 and is three shots off the pace in a tie for fifth at 146. Lemek has placed in the top five in two of her three MVC Championship appearances and lowered her league-best stroke average to 74.23.
Senior Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) fired a three-over 75 for her career-best 18th sub-80 round of the season. Roadley, who tied for fifth at last year's MVC Championship, is tied for 14th at 151, one shot out of the top 10.
Sophomore Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) is tied for 32nd overall at 157, shooting a 79 Monday. Senior Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) carded a second-round 83 and is tied for 44th at 163 to round out the lineup for the Braves.
Bradley will enter Tuesday's final round with an 11-shot lead on fourth-place Southern Illinois (608) and 16-shot edge on fifth-place Loyola (613). Five shots separate fifth through ninth, with Northern Iowa (6th - 614), Missouri State (7th - 617), Evansville (T8th - 618) and Illinois State (T8th - 618) close behind the Ramblers. Drake completes the field in 10th at 629.
