CHICAGO, Ill. -- Senior Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) fired a two-under 70 to match her lowest round of the season and finished third overall, while the Bradley women's golf team held on to third in the final team standings at the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship Tuesday.
Lemek turned in the lowest score of the day with her two-under 70 at the par-72 Harborside International Golf Center Port Course and was in contention for medalist honors before finishing third overall at 216. The 216 matched her lowest 54-hole of the year and the senior garnered MVC Golfer of the Year honors for the third consecutive year. Lemek, who is now the ninth four-time All-MVC honoree in league history, joined Meaghan LeBlanc as the only four-time All-Valley performers for the Braves.
Bradley entered the day third in the team standings and shot a 305 to finish third overall for the team's best conference championship finish since 2013. Wichita State won a third straight team title with a Valley Championship record-low score of 884 and Indiana State was second at 897. The Braves followed in third (902) with the lowest MVC Championship 54-hole score in program history to finish 20 shots better than fourth-place finisher Missouri State (922). Southern Illinois rounded out the half of the team standings in fifth at 926.
Wichita State's Taryn Torgerson claimed medalist honors by one stroke at 214 over runner-up Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville (215). The only three-time MVC Golfer of the Year, Lemek was third overall at 216 to pace the Braves as she earned the third top-three Valley Championship finish of her career. She closed the regular season with a 74.09 season stroke average, which would give her three of the top four season stroke averages in MVC history.
Sophomore Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) shared the individual lead after 36 holes, but slipped to sixth at 223 with a final round 80. Scaccia, who earned her third top-10 finish of the year and fifth of her career, missed All-MVC honors by one stroke as she finished the season with the 11st lowest stroke average (76.74) in Bradley history.
Senior Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) was three shots out of the top 10 in a tie for 15th at 230, firing a 79 in the final round of her Bradley career.
