PEORIA, Ill. – First-year Bradley women's basketball head coach Andrea Gorski has another addition to the 2016-17 roster with Thursday's announcement that 5-5 guard Alona Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside) will join the Braves next season.
A three-time all-state selection, she helped the Tigers to a state championship as a freshman. Johnson averaged 19.7 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds per game as a senior, wrapping up her career as the all-time leading scorer at Riverside with 1,521 career points.
"We are thrilled to welcome Alona and her family to our Bradley program,” Gorski said. “Alona will bring a confident and up-tempo presence to our backcourt along with the ability to score from both guard spots. Her energy and enthusiasm for the game is contagious, and we look for her to play a key role next season and throughout her career on The Hilltop."
A four-time all-conference selection and four-time all-area honoree, Johnson was named conference player of the year in her final prep season. She was also a part of an AAU National Championship team with Wisconsin Playground Elite.
