Women's Golf Adds Pair For 2016-17

PEORIA, Ill. -- Seventh-year Bradley women's golf head coach Mary Swanson has two recent additions to the 2016-17 roster, announcing Wednesday that local product Lexi Hammerton (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap/Eastern Illinois/Rend Lake) and Stanley Wang (Hangzhou, China/St. Thomas More [WI]) will join the squad.

"We are excited about the additions of Lexi and Stanley," said Swanson. "Lexi is the first Peoria area player we have had for awhile and she brings a wealth of experience from her time at Eastern Illinois and Rend Lake. Stanley flew under the radar as a high school golfer and moving from Milwaukee to Peoria ended up being a perfect fit for this next step in her academic and athletic careers."

Hammerton will have two years of eligibility remaining after attending Rend Lake Junior College in 2015-16. This past spring, her second-place individual regional finish helped the Warriors to a regional championship. Hammerton went on to tie for 41st at the 2016 NJCAA National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla.

A four-time first-team all-conference performer at Dunlap High School, Hammerton tied for 23rd at the IHSA Class AA state championship as a junior. Her uncle Mark was a four-year letterwinner on the Bradley men's golf team (1978-82). Back in June, Hammerton won the Peoria Park District Stroke Play title in a three-hole playoff.

Wang gives the Bradley women's golf team an international student-athlete for an 18th consecutive year. A native of Hangzhou, China, she played her final two prep seasons at St. Thomas More High School in Milwaukee, Wis., where she won the WIAA Division 2 state title by one stroke as a senior

As a junior, Wang finished fourth at the state championship. During her 2015 state championship run, she claimed conference, regional and sectional individual titles.
