PEORIA, Ill. -- In addition to preparing for the upcoming 2016-17 season, Bradley Women's Basketball has been active in the Peoria area this summer with the Braves recently taking part in several community events.

"We are always honored to be able to give back to this great city," said first-year head coach Andrea Gorski.  "Our team feels privileged to live in such a great community and we hope that our time and service will make a small difference for the people we are fortunate to meet."

Wednesday night the Braves assisted with the Mega Sports Camp at St. Paul Baptist Church, where team members assisted with basketball and soccer instruction for area children.  The Braves also spoke to participants about dealing with adversity and being game changers in both life and sports.

Last month the Braves took part in the Crittenton Center Kids' Day, which included a 5K race and Kids' Dash, with the Braves holding a clinic to teach participants dribbling, passing and shooting.

In addition, several members of the team volunteered at the Loaves and Fish event at First United Methodist Church in July, helping serve food to those in need.

Bradley Women's Basketball will have its annual Red-White Scrimmage Sunday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at Renaissance Coliseum and the team's only exhibition game is slated for Saturday, Nov. 5 (2 p.m.) against Missouri-St. Louis.  The Braves will open the 2016-17 regular season Friday, Nov. 11 at Kent State.
