PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley women's golf team will have its busiest four-day stretch of the fall season, taking part in the UIC Fall Invitational Saturday in Lemont, Ill., in addition to playing in Ball State's Cardinal Classic Monday and Tuesday in Yorktown, Ind.

The Braves got off to a strong start to the 2016-17 season with a sixth-place finish in the 14-team field at the season-opening Redbird Invitational Sept. 4 & 5 in Normal, Ill.  Sophomore Chloe Horton (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) tied for 14th at 225 (78-72-75) to pace Bradley in the season opener as she earned the second top-20 finish of her career.

For the second consecutive year, Bradley will participate in the UIC Fall Invitational, which will tee off Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cog Hill Country Club.  The Braves took second at last year's event, with juniors Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) and Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) both placing in the top 20 last fall.

The busy stretch continues Monday and Tuesday with the 54-hole Cardinal Classic Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.  The 15-team field includes Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake along with six teams from the Mid-American Conference in Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.  The rest of the field features Austin Peay, Chicago State, Eastern Kentucky, IPFW, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky and Western Illinois.

Play at the Cardinal Classic is slated to get underway Monday at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start for the 36-hole first day.  Tuesday's final round will also feature a shotgun start and is scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m.  Golfstat.com will provide live scoring for the two-day event as Bradley will play a fall tournament in the state of Indiana for the first time since 2012-13.

In addition to the strong performance by Horton in the season opener, sophomore Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) had a solid effort at the Redbird Invitational.  Saban collected her second career top-20 finish at the Redbird Invite, placing 16th overall at 226, one shot behind Horton.

Scaccia enters the week tied with Whitney Cox for 10th in school history with 44 career sub-80 rounds and needs just three rounds in the 70's or better to take over sole possession of eighth in program history.  Henderson fired a 77 in the final round at the Redbird Invitational to become the 18th individual at Bradley with 25 or more career sub-80 rounds.

Following the Cardinal Classic, the Braves will have almost two weeks off before hitting the halfway point of the fall season Oct. 3 & 4 at the MVC Preview in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
