Men’s Golf In Contention At John Dallio Memorial

LEMONT, Ill. – The Bradley men's golf team is two shots out of the lead and junior Ethan Brue (Chandlerville, Ill./AC Central/Illinois Central) is two shots behind the individual leader in third after day one at the John Dallio Memorial Monday.

The Braves carded scores of 294 and 297 to close Monday's action second in the team standings at 591, two shots back of tournament-host DePaul which finished the day at 589. Bradley is 13 shots ahead of third-place North Dakota State (604) and holds a 19-shot edge on fourth-place Drake (610) in the 13-team field, which also includes MVC rivals Northern Iowa (6^th – 615) and Loyola (11^th – 627).

Brue, who was medalist at the season-opening Crusader Collegiate, is near the top of the individual standings again, two shots back of the individual leader. He had the low round of the day for Bradley with a first-round 70 and is third overall at 146 after a second-round 76.

Junior Zach Jewell (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) is one of two other Braves joining Brue in the top 10. Jewell is two shots behind Brue at 148, following up a first-round 77 by matching a season-best with a one-under 71 at the par-72 Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.

Senior Bobby Jacobs (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) turned in rounds of 72 and 77 to close the day tied for seventh (149), while junior Drake Bushong (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) and sophomore Branden Mounce (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley/Illinois State) are both tied for 13^th (151). The duo both had first rounds of 76 and matching 75's in the afternoon.

Junior Matthew Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) is playing as an individual and matched a season-best over-over 73 in the opening round. He is tied for 20^th overall after 36 holes at 153, firing a second-round 80.

The final round of the John Dallio Memorial is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
