YORKTOWN, Ind. -- Bradley women's golf carded a 298 to hang on to fifth in the team standings Tuesday at the Cardinal Classic as the Braves finished with the second-lowest 54-hole score (898) in program history.
Junior
Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) and sophomore
Chloe Horton (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) had the low rounds of the day for Bradley with both individuals firing two-over 74's in the final round at the par-72 Players Club.
The 898 three-round team score was two shots off the school-record performance of 896 turned in this past spring at the Amelia Island Intercollegiate. Eastern Kentucky won the team title at 10-over 874 with Toledo following in second at 882 and Western Michigan rounding out the top three at 885. Tournament-host Ball State was fourth with a total of 897 to edge Bradley by one shot.
The Braves entered the day tied with in-state foe Northern Illinois for fifth, but the Huskies slipped into a tie with Northern Kentucky for sixth at 904 in the 16-team field, which also included Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake (13th - 934).
Freshman
Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) earned the first top-10 finish of her career, tying for seventh in the field at 219 after a three-over 75 Tuesday to pace Bradley.
Scaccia finished two shots out of the top 10 in 11th at 222 as she turned in her lowest 54-hole score since the 2015-16 season opener. Her final round two-over 74 was the 47th career sub-80 round and moved her into eighth in school history in career rounds in the 70's or better.
Horton matched Scaccia with a third-round 74 and her 226 tied her for 19th in the field to mark her third consecutive top-20 finish.
Sophomore
Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) tied for 54th (236) overall as she wrapped up tournament play with an 80, while sophomore
Brooke Thompson (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) had her best round of the tournament with a three-over 75 and tied for 76th at 242 to complete the team scoring for Bradley.
Junior
Abby Wellens (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) followed up her career-best round of 76 from Monday's second round with a 79. In the field as an individual, Wellens tied for 50th overall at 235 for the lowest 54-hole score of her Bradley career.
The Braves have almost two weeks off from competition before returning to the course Oct. 3 & 4 at the MVC Preview in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
