Brooke Thompson Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's golfer Brooke Thompson (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning medalist honors at the UIC Fall Invitational Saturday.

Thompson fired a career-best one-over 73 at the par-72 Cog Hill Country Club's #2 Course in Lemont, Ill. She claimed the top spot on the individual leaderboard by two shots over the Southern Illinois combo of Brooke Cusamano and Sun Jung, who both shot 75's. The medalist title marked the first top-20 finish of Thompson's career. A health science major, Thompson owns a 3.65 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Thompson and the Bradley women's golf team are back in action Oct. 3 & 4 at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
