Ashley Thai will play in the Singles Flight 3 championship match Sunday

PEORIA, IL - Bradly senior Ashley Thai downed sophomore teammate Julie Martin 6-2, 6-3 Saturday to earn a spot in Sunday's Singles Flight 3 championship match, highlighting the second day of action for the Braves in the Bradley Invitational at the David Markin Tennis Courts and ICC Tennis Courts.

Thai's victory over Martin came in one of three Bradley intrasquad matches Saturday: junior Aimee Manfredo beat junior Alexa Brandt in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 10-5) in the Flight 2 White bracket and sophomore Lindsay Haight downed teammate Kathryn Adeleman 6-0, 6-1 in the Flight 3 Red bracket.

Senior Ariel Dechter moved to within one victory of Bradley's career singles mark with her 3-set victory against DePaul's Marina Cozac in the third round of the Flight 1 Red bracket. Dechter's 72 career singles wins are just one shy of Teri Chan's 73 victories from 2003-07 and she will have a chance to tie the mark Sunday in the Flight 1 finals against Saint Louis' Djina Tchakarova.

Saturday's action began with two rounds of doubles play and the Bradley duo of Dechter/Manfredo followed up a first-round by with a 9-7 victory in the second round of Flight 1 to advance to Sunday's championship match. The Braves pairing will face Saint Louis sisters Ally and Cassie McKenzie for the Flight 1 title Sunday morning.

The final round of singles and doubles play in the Bradley Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at both Bradley's David Markin Tennis Courts and the ICC Tennis Courts in East Peoria.
