Ashley Thai Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior women's tennis player Ashley Thai (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning the single Flight 3 Championship at last weekend's Bradley Invitational.

Thai went a combined 4-2 on the weekend, claiming the Singles Flight 3 Championship and teaming with junior Alexa Brandt to finish fourth in the Flight 2 doubles bracket. After an opening round bye in singles, Thai earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Cary Milanes to reach the Flight 3 championship. Thai was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Natalia Bravo in the championship match as she moved into third on Bradley's career singles victories list with her 56th career win. A chemistry preprofessional major, Thai owns a 3.44 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Thai and the Bradley women's tennis team return to action Oct. 8-10 at the MVC Individual Championships in Evansville, Ind.
