PEORIA, Ill. -- Former Bradley softball and women's basketball letterwinner Alyson Spinas-Valainis will continue her pro softball career this fall, returning to New Zealand.

A four-year letterwinner on the hardwood, Spinas-Valainis joined the Bradley Softball team for the second half of the 2014 season after using up her final year of basketball eligibility in 2013-14 and was the top pitcher for the Braves during the 2015 campaign during her final year of collegiate eligibility.

Since that time Spinas-Valainis has played professional softball in both Europe and New Zealand.  This October, she is scheduled to return to her team the Hutt Valley Saints in New Zealand where last year she posted an 11-3 record with a 1.64 ERA last winter.  Spinas-Valainis fanned 117 batters in 94 innings of work in 2015-16 for the Saints in addition to a .308 average at the plate as she earned team MVP honors.

Her return to the Saints next month comes on the heels of playing for SK Joudrs Praha in the Czech Republic this summer.  Spinas-Valainis helped her team to the Czech Cup title this season and will wrap up her time in Europe in early October.

During her final year of softball on The Hilltop, she earned Bradley's MVP award and led the squad in ERA, wins (11), complete games (17), innings (196.0) and strikeouts (111).
