Matthew Specht Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior men's golfer Matthew Specht (Munster, Ind./Munster) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after tying for eighth at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate earlier this week.

Specht earned his second top-10 finish in as many tournaments in 2017-18, tying for eighth at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in Overland Park, Kan., to help the Bradley men's golf team to a fifth-place finish in the 12-team field. He fired a season-best one-under 71 in the opening round at the par-72 Milburn Golf & Country Club before carding a second round 74 Monday. Specht tied for eighth overall at four-over 220 as he wrapped up the tournament with a 75 Tuesday. A marketing major, Specht owns a 3.47 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

The Bradley men's golf team will close its 2017 Fall schedule Oct. 23 & 24 at the Little Rock Invitational in Little Rock, Ark.
