Women’s Golf Tied For Fifth At MVC Preview

NEWTON, Kan. – Senior Ally Scaccia is tied for ninth and the Bradley women's golf team has three individuals in the top 20 as the Braves finished the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Preview tied with Missouri State for fifth in the 11-team field.

Scaccia closed Monday's action tied for ninth at six-over par 150 after rounds of 74 and 76 at the Par-72 Sand Creek Station Golf Course. She is seven shots back of individual leader Taryn Torgerson of Wichita State, who is at one-under 143.

Bradley was fourth in the team standings after an opening round 307 and ended up finishing the day tied with Missouri State for fifth at 615 after a second-round 308. Former MVC member and tournament-host Wichita State leads the field at 598 and the Shockers have a nine-shot advantage on second-place Indiana State (607).

Northern Iowa is third overall at 609, while Southern Illinois is five shots ahead of both Bradley and Missouri State in fourth at 610. The Braves and Bears were nine shots better than I-74 rival Illinois State and Loyola with the pair tied for seventh at 624.

Scaccia is Bradley's top individual at six-over 150 as she attempts to earn her 12^th career top-10 finish.

Sophomore Taylor Ledwein extended her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 21 with rounds of 76 and 78. Ledwein is four shots behind Scaccia at 154 in a tie with junior Chloe Horton, who fired matching 77's Monday.

Junior Frankie Saban followed up a first-round 80 with a second-round 77 and will head into Tuesday's final round in a tie for 25^th at 157. Saban is two shots out of the top 20.

Fellow junior Brooke Thompson had her personal-best streak of 12 consecutive sub-80 rounds snapped at 12 as she turned in rounds of 83 and 80. Thompson is tied for 51^st at 163 to round out the team scoring for the Braves.

Freshman Maddie Hawkins is in the field as an individual and turned in a season-best 79 in the second round after an opening round 83. Hawkins is tied for 44^th at 162.
