Quartet of Braves Set for ITA Regionals

LAWRENCE, KS - Four members of the Bradley Tennis team are among the 128 singles players and 64 doubles teams who will compete in the ITA Central Regional Championships, presented by Oracle, the next five days at the University of Kansas.

The doubles pairing of Alexa Brandt and Malini Wijesinghe will represent Bradley in the ITA Central Regional doubles draw and will open the tournament with a 9:00 a.m. match Thursday against Iowa's Crawford/Reimchen at the Sport Pavilion courts. The Brandt/Wijesinghe pairing owns a 6-3 record this fall and enters the ITA Regional tied for sixth in program history with 25 all-time victories, just one behind the Brandt/Ashley Thai duo that finished fifth in Bradley history with 26 wins from 2014-17.

Bradley currently has three players in the 128-person singles draw. Freshman Victoria Gonzalez is scheduled to take the court first with a 12:30 match versus Nebraska's Hayle Haakenstad at the Sport Pavilion courts. Brandt will follow with a 2 p.m. match versus Tulsa's Alexandrina Chinikova at the Jayhawk Tennis Center indoor courts and freshman Sandra Maletin is slated to take enter the draw at 2:30 p.m. versus Kansas' Tatiana Nikolaeva at the JTC outdoor courts. Wijesinghe is an alternate and could enter the field if a player withdraws.

Each of the courts at the Jayhawk Tennis Center will feature live video streaming via Playsight. The host Jayhawks will update the draws online as final match scores are reported.
