ST. LOUIS - Bradley goalkeeper Brandon Barnes (Cary, IL/Prairie Ridge H.S.) has pulled off the first Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week three-peat in program history.  The first-year netminder claimed his third consecutive MVC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor Tuesday after two more impressive efforts between the pipes for the Braves last week.

Although his personal shutout streak was snapped at 333-minutes, 50-seconds by a penalty kick goal in the 61st minute Wednesday at Evansville, Barnes posted 10 saves in the eventual 2-2 draw on the road for his second consecutive game posting double-digit saves.  He came up with six more saves Saturday, leading the Braves to a 1-0 shutout against Drake at Shea Stadium, his sixth clean sheet in the last eight games and his fifth consecutive home shutout.

For the season, Barnes has improved to 7-3-1 with 6.0 shutouts, a 0.79 goals against average and 0.877 saves percentage.  His efforts in goal helped the Braves equal the winningest month in program history as the team's 7-2-1 record in September matched the 2000 Braves, who also went 7-2-1 in September, for the most wins in a calendar month.

Barnes and the Braves (7-3-1, 2-0-1 MVC) will try to carry their momentum into October and Saturday's showdown against league-leading Missouri State (6-2-1, 3-0-0 MVC), a matchup of the only two teams to remain unbeaten in Valley play.  Saturday's game will kick off at 7 p.m. at Shea Stadium.
