Hoffert Named Bradley Athlete of the Month

Sophomore Jake Hoffert of the men's cross country team is the Bradley Athlete of the Month, earning the honor after a fan vote for the month of October.
 
Hoffert became the first Bradley runner in 52 years for claim individual gold at the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Cross Country Championship, finishing first at the conference meet on Oct. 28. The sophomore ran the 8K course in 24:37.87 to become just the second BU man to win the individual title overall and the first since Rod Collins in 1965. The 2017 MVC Male Athlete of the Year, Hoffert also led the Braves to their third-straight team championship at the conference meet.
 
A native of Yorkville, Illinois, Hoffert also recorded the eighth-fastest time on an 8K course in Bradley history during the month, posting a time of 24:34.1 at the Bradley Pink Classic. In his two years on campus, Hoffert has already earned 2017 MVC Cross Country Athlete of the Year and 2016 MVC Freshman of the Year accolades, while three times earning a spot on All-MVC Teams in addition to NCAA All-Midwest Region honors as a rookie.
 
Hoffert earned the Bradley Athlete of the Month accolades after a fan vote on the school's twitter account. Hoffert collected 45 percent of the vote to narrowly beat out Yavianliz Rosado of the volleyball team in addition to Sara Piller of women's cross country and Malini Wijesinghe of tennis.
