PEORIA, Ill. -- Redshirt-sophomore forward Jha'Lon Johnson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Wheaton Academy) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after scoring the only goal in Bradley Soccer's 1-0 victory at Valparaiso to wrap up the regular season.

Johnson's header in the 43rd minute was the lone goal in Bradley's 1-0 victory at Missouri Valley Conference newcomer Valparaiso Saturday as the Braves locked up third-place in the final regular season MVC standings with the victory.  The goal was the second of the year for Johnson, with both of his strikes in 2017 proving to be game winners.  A business major, Johnson owns a 3.09 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Johnson and the Bradley Soccer team face Drake tonight at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the 2017 MVC Soccer Championship, which is behind held at Shea Stadium.
