Bradley senior defender Clark Emerson (Grand Prairie, TX/Mansfield Lake Ridge H.S.) is the second student-athlete in school history to three-peat as a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, according to the announcement of the District 5 squad Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America third-team selection as a junior in 2016, Emerson now becomes eligible for the national honor again this year.  He joins former women's golfer Kelly Amundrud (2010, 2011 and 2012) as the only student-athletes in Bradley history to earn CoSIDA district recognition three times.  Emerson is one of 58 Bradley student-athletes, including 11 soccer players, selected for CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition since 1999.

In order to qualify for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, student-athletes must have completed at least one full year at the nominating institution with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average.  They also must be starters, or important reserves, who have played in at least 50 percent of their team's games.

Emerson has played in 62 career games for the Braves, including 19 as a starting defender this fall, helping Bradley (11-7-2) earn the distinction of "Most Improved Team" in the nation.   In addition to playing more than 94 percent of the available minutes this season while helping the Braves to 10 shutouts from his defensive position, Emerson has recorded five points on a goal and three assists.  He recorded his third assist Wednesday night, helping to set up Bradley's game-winning goal in the 49th minute of the 3-1 victory versus Drake in the quarterfinals of the MVC Men's Soccer Championship at Shea Stadium.

Boasting a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average as a finance major, Emerson has earned a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award each of the last three years, as well as the MVC Honor Roll and the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor in each of his first six semesters.  A two-time MVC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete first-team honoree, he has been nominated for the recognition again this fall.

Emerson and the Braves return to action at 6 p.m. Friday by hosting Central Arkansas in the second semifinal of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship at Shea Stadium.  Friday's semifinal action begins at 3 p.m. when fifth-seeded Evansville challenges regular-season champion Missouri State.  The championship game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Shea Stadium.
