ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Sophomore
Michael Mounce (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley/Illinois State) has been named one of three winners of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week award according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Mounce won medalist honors at the Bradley Spring Break Invitational, helping the Bradley men's golf team win the event by an impressive 41 strokes. He carded a career-best one-over par 71 in all three rounds at the par-70 Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas, to claim top individual honors by three strokes over teammate
Ethan Brue at three-over 213. His three-round score of 213 tied for the seventh-lowest in school history as he helped Bradley card the lowest team round (278) and 54-hole score (858) in program history.
The MVC Golfer of the Week award marks the fourth time in 2016-17 a Brave has earned the distinction. Mounce is the third different Bradley individual to earn medalist honors this season and it marked the fourth time in seven tournaments the Braves boasted the top individual in the field.
Mounce and the Bradley men's golf team are back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo.
