The Braves tied the fourth lowest round in program history on the final day at the par-71 Twin Oaks Country Club with a two-under 282 and finished with the second lowest 54-hole team score in program history (859) to edge tournament-host and second-place finisher Missouri State (861) by two shots. Missouri State had a two-shot advantage on Bradley entering the final day, but the Braves third round 282 secured the top spot in the team standings. Bradley's 859 total for the tournament is the second lowest 54-hole score in program history to the school record of 858 turned in just last week at the Bradley Spring Break Invitational in Farmers Branch, Texas. Bradley won a team title for the second consecutive outing and fourth time this season. The Braves have finished in the top three in six of eight events in 2016-17.
While Jewell carded the low round of the tournament and tied the lowest round in program history with his five-under 66 Tuesday, junior
Ethan Brue claimed medalist honors. Brue, who opened play with round of 69 and 68 Monday fired a one-under 70 to finish at six-under 207 for the tournament. The medalist honor was the third of the year for Brue to tie the Bradley season mark set by
Lyle Burns just last spring as he posted his seventh top-10 finish of the season. Brue's three-round total of 207 is the second lowest 54-hole in school history and two off the school record set by Burns in the fall of 2015.
Jewell followed up his second round 70 from Monday with a career-best 66 Tuesday as he finished five strokes behind Brue in third overall at 212. With the career-best 66 Jewell joined Tim Sweborg (twice in the spring of 1966) and Burns from the fall of 2014 for the best round in Bradley history. His one-under 212 tied for the fifth lowest 54-hole in school history.
