PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner
Daniel Gagne (Wauwatosa, Wis./East) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational last weekend.
Competing against the nation's best at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., Gagne put together a school-record performance for the Braves in the 1,500 meters. He shaved more than six seconds off his previous career-best time and more than a second off the previous school record with the top time in the MVC this season at 3:43.08. Overall, Gagne placed 21st among collegiate runners in the event which featured 22 of the top 30 times nationally this season. An accounting major, Gagne owns a 3.64 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Gagne and the Bradley men's track & field team return to action Saturday at the Illinois Twilight in Champaign, Ill.
