PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner
Jennifer Luksan (West Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after winning the steeplechase at the Crusader Open Saturday.
Luksan took top honors in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at Valparaiso's Crusader Open in the final outing for the Bradley women's track & field team before next week's Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship. Her career-best time of 11:32.17 ranks seventh in school history and was more than 16 seconds faster than her previous career best time. A health science major, Luksan owns a 3.94 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Luksan and the Bradley women's track & field team return to action at the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship which will be held May 11-14 in Wichita, Kan.
