PEORIA, IL – Freshman Younes Dayekh scored the only goal of the game in the 79th minute to lead the Bradley soccer team to a 1-0 victory over defending regular-season and 2017 preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite, Loyola. The Braves improve to 4-3-0 overall in 2017 and 1-0-0 in MVC play, while the Ramblers drop to 3-3-0 and 0-2-0 against league foes.

With the game still scoreless and just over 11 minutes remaining on the clock, the Braves sent a long throw-in into the box. The ball popped out to Dayekh right outside the box and the rookie fired the shot into the side netting, beating the goalie to his left. The tally was the third for Dayekh during his rookie campaign with all three of his scores proving to be game-winners.

Dayekh's goal proved to be enough for the Bradley defense as the Braves limited the Ramblers to just two shots on goal during the 90 minutes of action, both which were saved by graduate student Brandon Barnes. The shutout was the third of the season for Barnes and his third-straight clean sheet at Shea Stadium.

Both teams registered 11 shots overall on the night with Loyola holding a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Bradley continues action at Shea Stadium with the school's Homecoming game on Saturday night. The Braves welcome Fort Wayne to Peoria with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
